I Want You to Support Play Unplugged!
Enrico Nardini, Play Unplugged, 8/2/12
Greetings Play Unplugged fans! I’m in the habit of giving little “The State of Play Unplugged” addresses on Play Unplugged Radio, and since we haven’t had an episode in a bit, I wanted to reach out to the fan base with a few important requests.
My goal when creating Play Unplugged was to make a fun and exciting webspace for tabletop game enthusiasts of all sorts, and to promote face-to-face game playing in as many forms as I thought possible. In this regard, I feel we have been a stunning success. As of the completion of this piece, Play Unplugged will boast 335 pieces of individual gaming content. Imagine that, 335 pieces in less than two years! We’re utilizing multiple forms of media written word, podcast radio broadcasts, and video. We’ve grown our readership and are now regularly reaching 8,000 – 10,000 gamers each month. We’ve created and are supporting communities on Facebook, Twitter, and now our own forums. We’ve developed a team of young, hungry, and hard working freelance writers. We’ve covered conventions such as The D&D Experience, Origins, and Gen Con, interviewing some of the biggest names in the industry. We’ve accomplished so much, and we couldn’t have done it without you. Thank you!
All those accomplishments are awesome, and I’m personally ecstatic just listing them, but there are still obstacles that need to be overcome. I am personally into transparency. It might not be the best business practice, but I feel that honesty with your constituency is extremely important.
Our current largest obstacle is financial. Almost everything we’ve done above costs money. For Play Unplugged to continue to grow and provide better and more extensive services to our customers (you, the fans) we need to generate more income. There are numerous ways we can try to do this and WE WANT YOUR FEEDBACK:
- Court Game Company Advertisements
- Charge a Subscription Fee
- Crowd-Sourcing (Kickstarter/IndieGoGo)
- Solicit Direct Donations (like the Play Unplugged tip jar)
- Sell Promotional Items (T-shirts and the like)
These are all things we could do and perhaps you folks have some ideas you could share with us as well.
So what am I asking you to do right now? The biggest things you can do to help Play Unplugged right now are the following:
- Keep Visiting Play Unplugged
- Like us on Our Facebook Page
- Follow us on Twitter
- Subscribe to Our YouTube Channel
- Join Our Forums
- Share Your Opinions on the Funding Methods Mentioned Above
- Donate to the Site Via Our Tip Jar (Utilizes Paypal)
- Tell a Friend About Us
Folks, we want to be nothing less than your go to website for tabletop gaming goodness, but that is only going to happen with your continued support. Help us make it happen and thank you.
